The short version

Puzzle progress stays on your device unless you turn on Cloud Backup. By default the app also sends anonymous usage data (no name, email or puzzle content), which you can switch off in Settings. Google AdMob handles ads and consent, and RevenueCat checks your store purchases (the Pup Pass and seasonal packs); these services may contact their servers even without Cloud Backup. We never sell your data. See the sections below for what each service handles.

Playing without Cloud Backup (the default)

Your solved cases, your current puzzle, your streak, and your settings stay on this device. We do not upload your puzzle progress to our database without Cloud Backup. Anonymous usage data (described next) is separate and can be switched off. Ad consent, advertising and purchase checks use third-party services described below.

If you turn on Cloud Backup

We create an anonymous account for your device — no name, email, or sign-up required. From then on we store: which cases you’ve solved and when; your current puzzle board so you can pick up where you left off; and your streak. We never store the puzzles themselves as "your data" — those are fixed game content, the same for everyone.

If you add an email address

Adding an email is optional and only exists so you can get your progress back if you switch phones or reinstall. We store the email address itself. There is no password to steal — signing in works by emailing you a one-time code, not by us storing a password. You can permanently remove your email and everything else at once (see "Delete your Pupspicious account and data" below).

Anonymous usage data

Unless you turn it off in Settings → Share anonymous usage data, Pupspicious sends anonymous usage events to our own database, with or without Cloud Backup. Each event carries a random ID generated on your device (not your name, email, account or advertising ID), your app version, your platform (iOS or Android), and what happened: the app was opened, a case was opened, solved or left, a hint or tool was used, a streak milestone was reached, or the Pup Pass or Halloween pack screen was viewed or a purchase was started or finished. We use it to learn how many people come back and where players get stuck. It never includes puzzle content, is not linked to who you are, is never sold, and is not shared with advertisers. Turning the setting off stops anything further from being sent. Settings → Delete my data also requests deletion of the usage events stored for this device. This request needs an internet connection and may fail if the connection or service is unavailable. Cloud account deletion also requires a connection; if it fails, the app asks you to retry.

Where your data lives

Cloud data is stored with Supabase, our database provider, on servers in the United States. We don’t use any third-party analytics SDKs — the anonymous usage data we collect goes into our own database, not to an outside analytics company. Ads and purchase checks are handled by Google and RevenueCat as described below.

Ads on the free version

On the free version, Google AdMob may show an ad after roughly every third case, between mysteries and after the culprit reveal. The one-time Pup Pass removes those automatic ads. All players can choose to watch a rewarded ad for extra hints. AdMob may process advertising identifiers, device information, IP address and approximate location, subject to consent and device privacy settings. Where required, the app presents Google’s consent form before requesting ads and offers Ad privacy choices in Settings to revisit your selection.

Your control over your data

You can turn Cloud Backup off at any time from Settings — that stops new puzzle progress from being backed up. The separate usage-data setting controls analytics. Use Settings → Delete my data to delete your game progress and linked account data on this device and in the cloud. Once deletion succeeds, it cannot be undone. The connection requirements for usage events are described above.

Store purchases

RevenueCat checks purchase information with Google Play or the App Store to determine whether you own the Pup Pass (no ads) or a seasonal case pack. These are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. It uses an app-specific customer identifier and purchase information. Store billing and payment details are handled by the store; Pupspicious does not receive your card information. Deleting game data does not refund or remove a store purchase; you can restore your purchases any time from the purchase screen.

Delete your Pupspicious account and data

If you have the app installed: open Pupspicious, go to Settings, and tap "Delete my data." When deletion succeeds, this permanently erases your solved cases, current puzzle, streak, and linked email (if any) — on this device and in the cloud if Cloud Backup was on.

If you don't have the app installed, or can't open it: email support.pupspicious@atomicmail.io from the address you used (if you linked one) with the subject "Delete my account," and we'll delete the same data within a few days and confirm by email.

Either way, deletion is complete: we don't retain a copy of your solved cases, puzzle progress, streak, or email afterward.
